Westlake Beach – a Hidden Gem in Austin

Westlake Beach – a Hidden Gem in Austin
Westlake Beach is possibly one of the best spots to take the whole family this summer break. It is considered to be a privately owned park on Lake Austin. It is typically open to the public from Memorial to Labor Day for the cost of $8 per adult and $5 per child. While they are normally closed during the week except for special arrangements, they are open during the weekends from 10am-7pm on Saturdays and 11am-7pm on Sundays. They are very frequently closed for private events, so make sure you call ahead of time to avoid the disappointment of arriving only to find out the park is closed!

The shoreline begins at a depth of eight inches and goes all the way to six feet. There is not a lifeguard on duty, so it is imperative that all children are supervised accordingly. The park contains several shaded picnic areas for guests to enjoy. Seven of these picnic areas are shaded and can fit around 60 people. The most recent addition to the park is “Stanley’s Pavilion” which can accommodate very large parties of up to 300 people. The park also has many other covered areas for smaller parties, picnic tables, BBQ grills, volleyball courts, and fishing areas. While the net and ball are provided for volleyball, guests need to bring their own fishing poles and other supplies for fishing.

It is recommended that parties containing more than twenty people call beforehand and make a deposit to reserve an area. Sometimes the park can get crowded, and reserving a spot ensures that your group will not have to split up.

If you’re looking for new, creative, and affordable ways to entertain the family this summer, Westlake Beach is your one-stop-shop!
