Austin is a vivacious growing city with a unique way of living that attracts all types of people. The city of Austin is well-known for many reasons: host to SXSW, a world-renowned live music scene, a quickly growing restaurant scene, beautiful parks and watering holes to visit on a hot summer day, and unique vibe are just a few of the great things that attract new residents to call Austin home each year. If you’re considering relocating to this great city that I have called home nearly my entire life, these are just a few of the best neighborhoods Austin has to offer:

Hyde Park:

Hyde Park has been and continues to be a highly desirable neighborhood in Austin, the area was initially marketed to Austin’s elite in the 1890’s. The wonderful area is located just north of downtown and offers many coffee shops, restaurants,a small town feel, and many updated charming homes. As Austin has grown, Hyde Park has once again undergone a boom, home values in 2013 showed a median home price of $350,000 with some properties selling for over $1.5 million.

Bouldin:

Bouldin Creek is a well-established neighborhood close to beautiful Zilker Park and minutes from Downtown Austin. Many new residents are drawn to the area while established residents are happy to stay put, because this is such a great location to call home. Bouldin Creek offers historic charm combined with the modern twist of new construction contemporary homes. The close proximity to Downtown Austin, nearby Lady Bird Lake & Trail, and famous South Congress shops and restaurants make people fall in love with this area. Home values in this area are currently between $550,000- $1,800,000.

Tarrytown:

Tarrytown, located just west of Mopac and north of Lake Austin in the 78703 zip code, is a highly sought-after neighborhood. This neighborhood offers great schools, quiet streets, beautiful homes in many sizes and styles, lake access, and mature trees – all within a three-mile drive of Downtown. The area began constructing many of the homes in the 1930s and early 1940s which provides a charming well-stablished feel to the area, there are also condominiums as well as an increasing number of new homes being built.

West Lake Hills:

West Lake Hills is filled with stunning luxury homes located in Eanes ISD which is highly rated school district in Texas and the nation. The neighborhood was predominately built in the 1970s and 1980s on some of Austin’s most desirable real estate. With stunning hill country views it is hard to remember that West Lake Hills is centrally located just minutes from Downtown Austin and conveniently near many highways. West Lake Hills has great accessibility to many local attractions such as Red Bud, Lions Municipal Golf Course, wonderful restaurants, and only minutes to downtown. You will find homes ranging in the $500,000 – $15,000,000 price-point.

Allandale:

Allandale is an established neighborhood that offers a great sense of community, a very traditional family-friendly feel, & large lot sizes which attract new and old residents of Austin. Allandale is one of the most centrally located neighborhoods in Austin, just minutes north of Downtown and surrounded by many of the historic parks of Old Austin. Home prices generally range from the $400,000s to over $1 million in the area.

Mueller:

The Mueller development in East Austin is home to a mix of lofts, houses, townhouses, and apartments also offering plenty of grocery stores, running trails, parks, restaurants, movie theaters, family practice offices, trailer park eateries, retail shops, and SO much more. Mueller is a master-planned community north-east of downtown Austin – built from the ground up, with the first homes being completed in 2007.

Lakeway:

Lakeway boast beautiful views of the lake and countryside with mature oak trees in many yards. The Lakeway homes are known for being very spacious and elegant while located near many natural parks, and lake vistas. The area offers wonderful schools, a suburban lifestyle, & many luxurious homes. Lakeway is also very well-known for the many golf communities in the area such as Falconhead. You can find homes in Lakeway from $285,000 on the outskirts to $2,500,000.

Circle C Ranch:

Circle C Ranch is a neighborhood of over 4,000 homes located in Southwest Austin along Mopac and Escarpment Blvd. This neighborhood offers luxury living through various developments with access to several community amenities including the Grey Rock Golf Club, bike-friendly roads, local businesses, and wonderful live oak trees. Circle C Ranch is within AISD and home prices range $350,000 – $1,000,000.

Downtown Austin Condos:

Downtown Austin has much history and has just recently began a high-paced growth of residential and commercial real estate. Think you are ready for the hustle and bustle of Downtown Austin living? Many downtown residential condos are located in newly built high-rise developments with wonderful amenities and access to many top rated restaurants, bars, live music venues, and the hike & bike trail – all at your front step. Living downtown provides views of the hill country, Lady Bird Lake, and the many high-rise buildings of our growing downtown area – living downtown also comes with additional cost such as the increased HOA fees. Condos range from $250,000 to $10,000,000.
